My Mom's Best Mother's Day Surprise
While having dinner with mom on Mother's Day...a young woman came up to our table...she asked me "Are you Carlos, did you volunteer at Olympic High School in Santa Monica..." and I said "yes"...she said I made a positive impact on her life.
Three years ago, I created a fun monthly creative writing contest...to inspire the students to express themselves ..every month winners were chosen not for their grammar,but content of their story. I rewarded different experiences...floor seats at Clipper Games...mom-daughter lunch dates...and mani-pedi days.
My mom was so proud that I am making a difference and impacting lives in the community...I know she will never forget this day.
Hope you had a similar experience to share with your mom...that is what she wants more from you.
