"Fathom was initially established by Carnival as a cruise line on June 4, 2015,[3] to operate "social impact travel" journeys lasting seven days from PortMiami, Florida, to the Dominican Republic. The journeys included volunteer activities with established organizations on the ground. Carnival reassigned the MV Adonia to Fathom as its first ship" Wikipedia.
I wrote a blog about making a positive impact in LA (February 2016), and a representative from Fathom Cruises contacted me about evaluating their social impact projects in Dominican Republic. They flew me out, put me up at 5 star hotel, and everyday I traveled to different parts of the island to participate in social projects and give them feedback on how they can improve the experience. They loved my input so much that they rewarded me the actual cruise trip; I returned the favor by sponsoring a creative writing contest in LA to reward a winner a trip for 2 to experience Fathom Cruises. I then, hosted a number of parties to inspire participation in the contest (here is a flyer);
The theme of the contest was, "Choose one word and in three sentences or less, tell us how it can change the world!"
The winning entry came from therapist Linnea Duvall, “Gratitude can change the world, because as each of us is fully grateful and aware of all that we have, rather than striving and striving for more, we can begin to look around ourselves and see what our gratitude filled hearts can bestow on others to change and uplift their lives. As each life is uplifted and gifted there will be a “pay it forward” movement that can change the world!”
I rewarded her the trip, plus 2 round trip plane tickets from LA to Miami (sadly she passed away two years ago from cancer, and in her memory, when I do the ONE word creative writing contest, I don't allow anyone to use the word Gratitude).

That Was Then...This is Now...
Fast forward to present day March 16th, 2023 almost seven years, since my Fathom Trip. I currently run kids creative writing mentoring programs (The Sweetest Gigs and Kids Design Tomorrow) that teach kids sweet skills, success habits, and positive values. And I meet talented kids thru creative writing contests and the sweetest parties in the community.
Recruiting for Good helps companies find talented professionals; and generates proceeds to fund our sweet kid mentoring programs.
